How to publish macros in the Central Repository?

The AUTOMADE Central Repository is a database of macros available to the entire company or selected teams. Any user of the robot (except those with the DESKTOP version of the robot) can upload a macro created to the Repository. In this article you will learn:

  • How to upload created macro to the Central Repository
  • How to make a macro available to all employees of a company or specific departments from the AUTOMADE HUB

How to upload created macro to the Central Repository?

To upload a macro to the Repository, open the list view and left-click on the macro you wish to upload.

Then expand the menu (1) and click the “Publish macro” (2) button.

The macro will be uploaded to the Repository but will not yet be available to other employees. It must first be assigned to the appropriate group in the AUTOMADE HUB.

The HUB is an administrative tool for companies and organisations to manage macros in the Repository, to securely store passwords and variables used in macros, or to manage all robots within an organisation. For more on the HUB, see the article “What is the AUTOMADE HUB?”.

How to make a macro available to all employees of a company or specific departments from the AUTOMADE HUB?

A macro submitted by a robot user to the Repository must be assigned to the selected group by the HUB administrator. We describe how to do this below.

  1. Go to the Macros section. Here you will find all the macros uploaded by the organisation’s users. The table contains information about
  • Macro name (1)
  • Macro version (2)
  • Date of creation (3)

  1. Under Actions (4) there are buttons, which take you to the window of Edit of the selected macro option in the repository.

After clicking the button, a window will open in which the name of the macro can be edited and it can be assigned to selected groups. Groups may be company departments, such as Finance, HR, Accounting or project groups, or simply the entire company. We describe more about creating groups in the article “What are groups used for in the AUTOMADE tool?”.

To assign a macro to a particular group, select it from the left-hand list and move it with the arrow button to the right-hand list. If you want to assign a macro to several groups, you may select all of them at once by holding down the CTRL button.

  1. After moving the desired groups, confirm the macro edit with the blue Apply button. After confirming the selection, all users whose AUTOMADE robots are assigned to a specific group will already be able to use the macro using the Central Repository list in the list view. Importantly, the macro made available in this way cannot be edited by robot users. To modify it, the user must save it locally on his computer. A macro edited in this way can be sent back to the Central Repository. We tell more about this in the article “How do I edit a macro in the Central Repository?”.

Note, however, that if the macro refers to specific files on disk, the user should make sure that these files have the same names as in the macro steps and are located in the correct folder. Only then will the Central Repository macro work correctly on other users’ computers.
